Battlefield 4: Official Commander Mode Trailer

New commander mode for Battlefield 4 will give you a host of new gaming experiences, even away from home with the ability to be the commander from a tablet.

Very Nice addition to an already incredible game.

Hey everyone, there is much debate between the new PS4 and the XBOX One.

I'm not going to spend a lot of time comparing the two here, you can find out more at the following links.  In a nutshell, computing wise, they are pretty similar.
XBOX One
PS4
I can say that I have had the following consoles, so that you know where I'm coming from;
Playstation
Playstation 2
XBOX
XBOX 360 (2 of them) one older generation which Red-Ringed me, and a newer 250GB with Kinect
I never did purchase a PS3, solely because I already had the XBOX 360, and saw little need to add an additional console.

Prior to the XBOX One Reveal, I was totally sold, regardless of what came out that I was going to buy the new XBOX.  I'm now, not sure as to whether I should get the new XBOX, or make the leap back to the PS4.  I'm really disappointed that Microsoft seems to forget that the XBOX was a GAMING system, not an entertainment box.  At least Sony seems to recognize that the core purchasers of the consoles are gamers, people who want to play high performance video games.  No non-gaming individual is going to spend $500+ on a console to use it as an entertainment device.  Especially when the likes of Apple TV, Roku, Boxee, etc... all exist for around $100.  Just the same, most TV's can do what the XBOX features, just without the gaming aspect.

I personally think Microsoft now needs to step up and show the Gaming features of the system.  They spent the entire reveal, showing everything but the Video Games.  Did they forget that you use the controller to play games with, and not switch between radio stations or tv channels?

I wish there was a company out there who would harness the computing power available, and make a truly worthy console, focused strictly on gaming.  The current capabilities, focused purely on gaming, graphics and audio would no doubt be astounding.

They seemed to be getting there, however they made a huge mistake in my opinion.  How is the 14 year old kid going to explain to his parents that he would like a new XBOX for Christmas to play games and it now costs $400-$1000.  Whatever the cost will be.  Do you really think that kid is going to get any playtime with the TV capabilities, etc...
Last parting words....

Microsoft.... Get back to the Video Games.  Develop some other device that does all the Entertainment and sell it separately, or as an add on.
Sony....Keep it up, you may have won yourself a new customer, but I'd like to see more.

Battlefield 4 Spotting Changes

From the new Battlefield 4 Trailer, Fishing in Baku we can see that there have been some changes to the spotting system in Battlefield 4.
click the following link for the Fishing in Baku, 17 Minute Trailer

First, there is an audible chirp and a Hand signal given to alert your teammates that you have spotted some enemies.  You can see the raised fist in the image below.  To hear the audible chirp, watch my video at the end of the post.

It is not evident whether you can spot while sighted down a scope as if you were a Recon player in BF3.  This gameplay almost makes it appear as if spotting is done while not being scoped in.  When we find out more about this functionality, we will update.

Second, There is an Icon that comes up in your lower RH status bar.  It is an upside down triangle that slowly blinks orange while you have enemies spotted.  It is right next to the zig-zag symbol we were accustomed to seeing in BF3 for fallen teammates.

Third, similarly to the icon in the status box, the Icon over the enemies head is now inverted compared to BF3.  The marker in Battlefield 4 shows an Upside Down Triangle pointed at the enemies head.  This should make head-shot targeting a bit easier.

Lastly, as in Battlefield 3, the Marker still shows up in the minimap and shows in which direction, the enemy is facing, so you will know whether you are sneaking up behind them, or if they will be facing you when you encounter them.

In regards to multiplayer gameplay, there are still some questions in regards to how this system will work.  Will your squad mates be the only ones to hear the audible chirp and see the hand notification, or will that be made available to your entire team, or will the enemies even be able to hear it?  We'll find out here soon.

See my YouTube video pointing out some of these differences discussed.

Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer Builds - General Guidelines

Here is some general information for building your Mass Effect 3's Multiplayer Characters

In order to build your multiplayer character, there are 5 different abilities.  3 are actively used during gameplay and 2 are passively used.  Each ability has up to 6 levels.  The first 3 levels in each ability do not change, however the last 3 levels per ability give you the choice between 2 options.  Selecting which abilities to level up is important to the overall strength of your character.

Each level has a different cost, Level 1 = 1 point1, on up to Level 6 = 6 points.  Each character can max out at Level 20 and you will get 84 ability points to use.  This only allows you to max out 4 of the 5 abilities, provided you leave one ability blank.

In order to maximize the points you are given, there are 2 general strategies I suggest.

  1. Select 4 of the abilities to use and max each of them out, leaving one of the abilities at Level 0.
  2. Use all 5 of the abilities.  Max out 3 of the abilities, and put one at Level 3 and one at Level 5.
These two strategies will make full use of the points given, otherwise, you will end up at level 20 with extra unused points.

Some characters can set up their own Tech Bursts, Tech Explosions or Biotic Explosions.  It is important to understand which abilities to use in order to set up these special abilities.

For example, the Human Sentinels can create Biotic Explosions by using Warp on an Enemy first, then while the enemy is writhing in blue pain, you can follow it up with Throw, to create the Biotic Explosion.  See my following video for an example.

My recommendation is that before leveling up any character, you search on YouTube to see how other people use that particular character, and what abilities that character possesses.  Then, think of how you would like to play that character and level up the abilities with either the 6,6,6,6,0 or 6,6,6,5,3 leveling scheme I mentioned earlier.

Lastly, try to select various weapons and enhancements that will complement the character's play-style you have chosen.  Ex. Do not put a Sniper Rifle on a Krogan Warlord.  His abilities require him to be up close to the enemies, so a shotgun or sub-machine gun would suit him much better.

I will soon provide additional Blog Posts with some of my preferred builds.  I hope this has helped give you a quick and brief intro into leveling up your character.
